To mark the occasion, we launched a three-episode series featuring voices from across our #TheNextLevel team - from junior developers to seasoned experts who have been shaping solutions with us for decades. Each participant reflected on their personal journey, exploring the evolution of their work, the technological breakthroughs that have most influenced their practice, and their perspectives on the future of programming.
As Paulo Cunha, our Head of Digital International & Internal IT, recalled, “On the first day, you panic because you realize how much you still have to learn; by the second day, you realize you’ve already begun learning how to learn.” Similarly, Ivo Soares, who has been a programmer for six years, remembers his early challenges: “It was difficult at the beginning, coming straight from university and being used to working only on small-scale projects.”
When discussing the most significant changes in recent years, many highlighted the role of AI-assisted tools. As Liliana Martins, IS Senior Consultant, explained, “Copilot and ChatGPT have, in a way, revolutionized our daily processes. They are not here to replace programmers, but to enhance our productivity and extend our capabilities.” These insights illustrate how technological advancements are reshaping programming, streamlining workflows and fostering closer collaboration among developers.
Looking ahead, our experts anticipate that the continued evolution of artificial intelligence will remain the most impactful force in programming. They foresee AI as a catalyst for producing higher-quality code at greater speed, while emerging approaches - such as the increasingly popular "vibe coding" practices - may redefine how developers interact with technology and collaborate across teams.
These intertwined stories remind us that while bugs may be inevitable, so is change. Over the past 20 years at ITSector, change has been our constant companion. It has pushed us to adapt, to experiment, and to innovate - always with the ambition of shaping technology that makes a difference.
